
Jan Tore Pedersen is Managing Director of Marlo a.s and one of the founders of the company MIXMOVE as. He is also a member of the NEXUS Technical and Innovation Committee.
Since the early 1990-ies, Dr Pedersen has been active in EU and national projects for the development of innovative logistics solutions and related information technologies. Noticeable projects are IPSI e-Freight, iCargo, DYNAPORT and SARIL. These projects represent a span of activities from maritime cargo handling in ports and Just-in-Time shipping to end-to-end logistics management and making logistics green, resilient and efficient.
Since 2012, Marlo collaborated with 3M, DHL, and Gebrüder Weiss to develop the Software-as-a-Service solution MixMoveMatch – aimed to ensure that transportation resources are utilised to their maximum capacity. In 2017, this development led to forming the company MIXMOVE, which is now further commercialising the MIXMOVE Solutions.
Before founding Marlo, Dr Pedersen was involved in the business and technology development of advanced software systems (The Kongsberg Group), and business- and technology development in the maritime sector (The Kvaerner Group) The latter includes an integrated system for ships covering all onboard control and navigation capabilities and the maritime transport solutions currently being used by Stora Enso between the Nordic countries and the continent.
From 1995 to 1998, Dr Pedersen held a part-time position as a professor at the Technical University of Norway in the field of mechatronics. From October 2009 until September 2011, he was an adjunct professor in logistics at the BI Norwegian Business School. Dr Pedersen holds an MSc in Control engineering and a PhD in manufacturing from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and an MSc in Computer Science from the University of California at Santa Barbara.
